Abstract

Australia provided a temporary safe haven for nearly 4,000 Kosovar refugees in response to a request for assistance from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). A health surveillance system was established during Operation Safe Haven to plan health care, monitor for potential outbreaks, record health status and service use, and to meet international surveillance requirements.
