Abstract

This editorial highlights the importance of global eradication of poliovirus infections. While only 3 countries (Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan) have never interrupted indigenous poliovirus transmission, these countries have repeatedly seeded the virus to other countries with an increase in cases in recent years.
